- Maternity Session 2016 -

A maternity session is your time to show off your very special baby bump. A precious time in you and your partners life! A baby is a huge, life altering event and you'll want to cherish every special moment throughout your 40 week journey. This is a time to document those moments in time that are often forgotten or looked over after your newborn is here. I want to photograph that memory for you to look back on and show your baby the first moments mommy was blessed to spend with them.

Pre-Consultation: I really strive to learn as much as possible about my clients and I encourage them to schedule a pre-consultation with me ahead of time. It can be as simple as a phone conversation or email exchange or we can set up a coffee chit chat to get to know each other. I want to get to know you so you feel 100% comfortable with me before the day of your session and get the jitters out so you look relaxed and know exactly what we’ll be doing the day of your session.

Your Session: The best time to photograph your maternity session is during the 30-34 weeks of pregnancy. You don't want to plan them too early because you want people to see your beautiful bump but we don't want to plan them too late that you might go into labor while posing in a lush field of flowers or make you feel too uncomfortable. Every
pregnancy is different so we can work out a time that works best for you based upon your specific situation.

What To Wear: Bring along a couple different outfits or wardrobe changes. For maternity sessions its best to wear something that shows off your baby bump and flatters that tiny little one growing inside. Some great examples are flowing dresses, some fitted tanks and any flowing fabric you'd like for a windswept type photograph. I do have a few beautiful maternity gowns available if you’re interested in something stylish and different. I suggest clothing without logos or wording as they'll stay timeless during the years to come. Instead of the old school rule of matching think of coordinating schemes to go with if you choose to have a significant other in the photos. Go outside your comfort zone and dress up a bit, remember you will cherish these photos for years to come so put a bit of thought into what you'd like to see yourself in. The make or break of a session can be the mood or feel of your clothing choices so think of the overall feel you’re going for and style your clothing to go with that!

What To Bring: Bring any type of props you have in mind for your shoot. If you have a specific photograph that you like and want to re-create bring it to my attention, I'm here to make your memories turn into photographs so by all means share your ideas. Keep in mind that social media can work to your advantage, use Pinterest to find inspiration! If you have a special family memento that you're planning on including with the little one bring it. I also suggest bringing some tiny baby onsies or other small items of the baby. If you're planning on taking gender reveal photos make sure we discuss the ways you'd like to go about announcing so we can plan props ahead of time if needed.

Time & Location: For on location shoots, I prefer shooting right before sunset, that's always the best lighting but we can do a morning session if needed. Maternity sessions usually last an hour or more depending on locations and the amount of changes we do. At the pre-consultation meeting on the phone or in person we can discuss the theme or mood you’re planning on going for and can choose from there the location as well as time. If you have a specific place that has sentimental value or significance to your make sure you let me know and we'll be sure to incorporate it.

Gallery Viewing Session: Something brand new for 2016 is something I’ve chosen to give my clients a full experience not just a single date of shooting and then never communicating again. A few weeks after your session we will schedule a viewing session where we sit down and view a slideshow of all of the images from your session as well as discuss what products you intend to create with your images. I will have product samples for you to view and can help you decide what other products you’re interested in ordering including photo albums, canvases, and digital files.

**All session packages’s require a deposit of $50 to book your session. This is a non-refundable deposit. The deposit ensures we hold your date and is then applied to your session fee. All session fees are due the day of your session. Digital files are not included in your session fee. Prints and products are sold separately at your viewing and ordering session after your shoot. Minimum print order is $50 with an average investment of about $250-$400 (including session fee and prints). Digital files are available for purchase once a minimum print order has been placed.**
